Welcome to our recap of Scaling Week 2023! This year’s theme, ‘SDGs Ecosystem Connections,’ brought together entrepreneurs from China, Zimbabwe, and Mexico in Geneva, where they connected with the vibrant Geneva ecosystem to enhance their contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals. Over the course of the week, there was a dynamic exchange of knowledge, collaboration, and engaging activities, including the Building Bridges event, a visit to the International Trade Center, a mountain retreat, an A2030 Afterwork gathering, and our special “Ecosystem Diner” with the Canton of Geneva. These activities provided the five ventures with valuable opportunities to engage with like-minded individuals and key stakeholders.

Sustainable Retreat in the Mountains

During our Sustainable Leadership Retreat at Champéry, we established a nurturing space for exploring Sustainable Scaling. Participants focused on three main pillars:

Building Bridges
As it tradition, the Scaling Week coincides with Building Bridges, the event where the worlds of finance and sustainability meet. This year, our five ventures presented their solutions on the Village Pitch stage. We’re also proud of Ivan Ordaz Romo, Co-founder of Coco, who was invited by ITU to participate in the panel on “Unlocking Financing for Universal School Connectivity” event. It was also a pleasure for us to see our alumnus, Mauricio Schneider, Co-Founder of SoluBio giving an inspirational speech together with Santu Boëthius, Co-Founder of Impact Hub Geneva-Lausanne & Co-Initiator of Accelerate2030 at our “Innovate4SDGs” event, organized in partnershipwith UNECE, Swiss Agency For Development & Cooperation & Circular Economy Transition.

Ecosystem Dinner
This dinner, hosted by Impact Hub Geneva and generously supported by the State of Geneva, was a pivotal moment during our Global Scaling Week, uniting key players in the global innovation and circularity ecosystem and important figures of the State of Geneva. During this evening, we had the opportunity to assist different panels with impactful speakers. We also gave the floor to our participants and their solutions during one of the panels moderated by our project manager Mala Henriques. The Ecosystem Dinner was a truly enriching experience, where networking and discussions flourished and where our great connections were made.

Ecosystem Dinner

Our visit to the International Trade Center in Geneva was both informative and promising. This edition again, they graciously welcomed us, presenting their organization and the valuable tools they employ. Our entrepreneurs pitched their solutions to the ITC team and replied to some of their questions. Subsequently, they engaged in one-on-one meetings with interested ITC representatives, laying the groundwork for exciting future collaborations.
A2030’s Afterwork

The 4th of October, we opened the Hub’s doors for a afterwoork to everyone interested in meeting our five global finalists. In a casual atmosphere, these incredible entrepreneurs pitched their solutions to the public, and it was nothing short of amazing! 🌟
Furthermore, we were honored to have Alfredo Villalonga, Chairperson of the Board at Impact Hub Gobal, Santu Boëthius, Co-founder of Impact Hub Geneva-Lausanne and Co-Initiator of the A2030 program, and Carol Chou, Business Director at Impact Hub Shanghai, sharing valuable insights.
